Lead With Love: What does the Bible Say about Racism? 10 Verses to Meditate on.

If your heart has been as deeply grieved as mine has been, I can’t help but wonder how grieved God’s heart must be.

But when I looked up the word “racism” in my concordances, I found nothing. But rather than getting discouraged, I kept looking…

Turns out, the Bible has A LOT to say about racism. And I’m grateful.

Here are 10 verses to meditate on as we seek God’s heart over his devastating and damaging issue..

Genesis 1:26a, 27, NLT

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Acts of the Apostles 17:26-27, NLT

“From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us.”

John 7:24, NIV

“Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”

Galatians 3:26-29, NIV

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Acts 10:34-36, MSG

“Peter fairly exploded with his good news: “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open. The Message he sent to the children of Israel—that through Jesus Christ everything is being put together again—well, he’s doing it everywhere, among everyone.”

James 2:10-13, NLT

For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws. For the same God who said, “You must not commit adultery,” also said, “You must not murder.” So if you murder someone but do not commit adultery, you have still broken the law. So whatever you say or whatever you do, remember that you will be judged by the law that sets you free. There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.’

Revelation 7:9-10, NLT

After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!”

Matthew 7:12, NLT

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.”

1 John 2:9-11, MSG

‘Anyone who claims to live in God’s light and hates a brother or sister is still in the dark. It’s the person who loves brother and sister who dwells in God’s light and doesn’t block the light from others. But whoever hates is still in the dark, stumbles around in the dark, doesn’t know which end is up, blinded by the darkness.

1 Corinthians 12:12-13,26, NLT

‘The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit…If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.’
