We were created in God’s image. We are the work of His hands. His craftsmanship. We bear His mark.
God was proud of the work He had done with creation in general and in humans in particular. And when He finished His creative work, He said, “it is very good.”
And then He rested.
When God breathed His life-breath into our lungs, He gave us a soul so we can have an intimate relationship with Him. Put our faith in Him. Learn from Him. And follow His lead and example.
When we put our work and efforts under His authority, working for Him rather than for people, prestige, self-glorification, etc. we must ask Him to work through us. To bless and multiply our efforts. It doesn’t matter if our work is folding laundry, pulling weeds, cooking dinner, studying for school, designing buildings, running a company, volunteering, teaching, or saving lives. What matters is WHO we’re glorifying with our work, HOW we do it, and with what attitude—regardless of the circumstances surrounding us.
Why is this important?
Because our work is a vital component to our witness for Jesus Christ.
When we completely surrender to Jesus, walk in obedience, and employ the 6 principles of work He gave us in Creation, our work won’t only bear our mark but will reflect His. This allows us to take advantage of our misguided cultural belief that what we do is who we are. By doing our work with excellence, we get to display Whose we are! Our work will bear witness to our relationship with Christ which will then open doors for us to share the Good News with those in our sphere of influence.
How awesome is that?
Jesus, I offer my work to You as a holy sacrifice to give Him honor and glory. Please work through me and empower me to do my work with excellence so I be a credible witness for You. Please open doors for me to share your Truth and Hope with those in my sphere of influence. Prepare their heart and mine for those conversations. Give me Your words, grace, and love for them.
Blessings
Cheyenne
