Do all things without grumbling or complaining. (Phil 2:14, NLT)
Can you claim this?
I can’t either.
But where does our grumbling and complaining stem from? What’s at the root?
In short. Pride.
Pride partnered with selfishness and entitlement.
Satan has deceived us into believing God is hateful and unfair. That He’s to blame for our injustices. That our hardships and burdens are His vindictive maneuvers, not consequences of sin and part of living in a fallen world. In the backwash of this deception, bitterness clouds our perception because we focus on our obstacles and challenges rather than on our God who is able help us overcome them—complaining along the way.
And to what end?
Do our complaints reverse any of the hardships we face or challenges we endure?
How do they testify to the quality of our faith in Jesus and our trust in His ability to protect, provide, and lead us?
Let’s face it. Our grumbling repels this unbelieving generation. Why would they want to follow Jesus if all His people do is habitually complain? If they’re negative and bitter? Disgruntled and unhappy? That would make me run the other way. Fast!
But what if we ask God to change our perspective on our trials and challenges?
James tells us, Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. (1:2-4)
My friend, God often uses our challenges to get our attention and invite us to come (back) to Him. He uses our hardships to strengthen our faith as we draw us closer to Jesus so we’ll be equipped to bear fruit. Fruit with seeds of faith, hope and love to plant in the hearts of those who don’t yet know Him.
So, let’s rejoice in all things and give thanks for our trials! Let’s present ourselves as who are are: Children God
- Blameless
- Innocent
- Without Blemish
- Shining as bright lights
- Holding fast to the Word of Life
Jesus, forgive me for my unbelief and pride reflected in my careless words and complaints. I want to be thankful and see Your fingerprints in my hurts and challenges so I can shine brightly for You wherever You have me.

Excuse me because I haven’t written the reply to you yesterday in time, Really, I was very busy the day long, thank you for your daily devotional readings, scriptures, your daily cermony, you are gift from God to me and for many, Paul says to Philippians( Do all things with out murmurings and disputings, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, this work of his Good pleasure, that will be blameless, and harmless, the sons of God, we have to do all things which lead us and others to salvation, and to shine as lights in the world, people will see our Good workings and glorify our Father which art in heaven. But Paul the Apostle says(All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not, let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth) (1Corinthians 10:23-24) Pride is a big sin which God hates, an that is which we face in our service, James ( God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble) (James 4:6) Jesus himself washed feets of his disciples to teach us to be humble read (John13:1)Jesus was humble read(Matthew 11:29) to do all things for Service we will face many troubled and trials, Jesus said that we will face many troubled read (John 16:33) Paul said ( But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1Corinthians 10:13)you read about Paul the Apostle which said about himself (And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure) (2 Corinthians 12:7) Paul said also(Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus Mrs shall suffer persecution.) (2 Timothy 3:12) Yes, I agree with you that when troubles of any kind come our way, we consider it an opportunity for great joy, for we know that when our faith is tested our endurance has a chance to grow, so let it grow, it will be complete needing nothing, and let us rejoice in all things and give things and give thanks for our trials to prepared us as children of God, I agree with you in prayer, Jesus, for give us, for our unbelief, and Pride reflected in our carless words and complaints, we want to be thankful and see your fingerprints in our heart and challenges so we can shine brightly for You wherever You have us.
